Odisha junior Davis Cupper Debasis Sahoo added yet another feather to his cap by emerging mens singles champion in the CLTA-AITA National Ranking Tennis Tournament at the Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association (CLTA) Stadium in Chandigarh today.

The title triumph assumed added significance as the 18-year-old Odisha player started his main-draw campaign as a qualifier and beat three seeded players, including top seed Udit Kamboj (Haryana) on his way to the final, where he defeated Shankar Heisnam (Manipur) 6-2, 6-3.

Overall, Sahoo won two qualifying and five main-draw matches to clinch the title. With his impressive performance at the CLTA-AITA tournament, Debasis is set to climb up from 112th to 75th position in the All India mens rankings.
