  Paris Paralympics: India stand 18th with record haul of 29 medals

With a highest-ever haul of 29 medals, India occupied the 18th rank in the 17th Summer Paralympic Games, which is being held in Paris, France from 28 Autust 2024. The 29 medals include seven gold, nine silver and 13 bronze. The previous highest haul of 19 medals (5 gold, 8 silver, 6 bronze) was achieved at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.

India has fielded an 84-member contingent at the Paris Paralympics. But no one from Odisha has been able to get a place in the Indian contingent. The one and only hope of the State proved in vain with Badminton World Federation suspending Tokyo Paralympics gold medallist Pramod Bhagat for 18 months for breach of anti-doping regulations with three whereabouts failures within 12 months.

 

INDIAN MEDAL WINNERS AT PARIS PARALYMPICS 2024:

Gold (30 August): Avani Lekhara, Rajasthan (Shooting), Womens R2 air rifle standing SH1. * Sucessfully defended the gold medal, she won at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.
Gold (2 September): Sumit Antil, Haryana (Athletics), Mens javeline throw, F64 category, 70.59m (New Paralympics Record). * Antil bettered his own record of 68.55m, achieved at 2020 Tokyo Paralympics where he won gold.
Gold (2 September): Nitesh Kumar, Rajasthan (Badminton), Mens singles SL3.
Gold (4 September): Harvinder Singh, Haryana (Archery), Individual recurve open. * This was the first-ever Paralympic gold medal for India in Archery.
Gold (4 September): Dharambir Nain, Haryana (Athletics), F51 men club throw, 34.92m. * New Asian Record.
Gold (6 September): Praveen Kumar, Uttar Pradesh (Athletics), T64 mens high jump, 2.08 meters. * He also created an Asian Record with a Personal Best.
Gold (7 September): Navdeep Singh, Haryana (Athletics), F41 mens javelin throw, 47.32m (Personal Best).

Silver (30 August): Manish Narwal, Haryana (Shooting), Mens P1 10m air pistol SH1.
Silver (1 September): Nishad Kumar, Himachal Pradesh, (Athletics), Mens high jump T47, September 1.
Silver (2 September): Yogesh Kathunia, Haryana (Athletics), Mens discus throw F56.
Silver (2 September): Thulasimathi Murugesan, Tamil Nadu (Badminton), Womens singles SU5.
Silver (2 September): Suhas Yathiraj, Karnataka (Badminton), Mens singles SL4.
Silver (3 September): Ajeet Singh Yadav, Uttar Pradesh (Athletics), F46 men javelin throw, 65.62m.
Silver (3 September): Sharad Kumar, Bihar (Athletics), T63 men high jump, 1.88m.
Silver (4 September): Sachin Khilari, Maharashtra (Athletics), F46 men shot put.
Silver (4 September): Pranav Soorma, Haryana (Athletics), F51 men club throw, 34.59m.

Bronze (30 August): Mona Agarwal, Rajasthan (Shooting), Womens R2 10m air rifle standing SH1.
Bronze (30 August): Preethi Pal, Uttar Pradesh (Athletics), Womens 100m run T35.
Bronze (31 August): Rubina Francis, Madhya Pradesh (Shooting), Womens P2 10m air pistol SH1.
Bronze (1 September): Preethi Pal, Uttar Pradesh (Athletics), Womens 200m run T35.
Bronze (2 September): Manisha Ramadass, Tamil Nadu (Badminton), Womens singles SU5.
Bronze (2 September): Nithya Sre Sivan, Tamil Nadu (Badminton), Womens singles SH6.
Bronze (2 September): Sheetal Devi & Rakesh Kumar, Jammu-Kashmir (Archery), Mixed team compound.
Bronze (3 September): Deepthi Jeevanji, Telangana (Athletics), T20 women 400m run.
Bronze (3 September): Mariyappan Thangavelu, Tamil Nadu (Athletics), T63 men high jump, 1.85m.
Bronze (3 September): Sundar Singh Gurjar, Rajasthan (Athletics), F46 men javelin throw, 64.96m.
Bronze (5 September): Kapil Parmar, Madhya Pradesh (Judo), J1 men 60kg. * First-ever judo medal for India in Paralympics.
Bronze (7 September): Hakato Sema, Nagaland (Athletics), F57 mens shot put, 14.65m (Personal Best).
Bronze (7 September): Simran Sharma, Delhi (Athletics), T12 womens 200m run, 24.75s (Personal Best).
