  Aahan wins historic Asian Junio U16 double crown

Bhubaneswar girl Aahan created history as she became the first tennis player from Odisha to bag a double crown for India, winning both the U-16 singles and doubles titles at the Asian Junior Tour Championship in Jorhat, Assam today.

A flag-bearer of Bhubaneswar-based Ace Base Tennis Academy, Aahan won the singles title, defeating fellow Indian Akansha Ghosh in the final 6-1, 6-3.

Aahan emerged doubles champion with compatriot Akansha Ghosh of West Bengal as her partner. They beat Indian opponents Nistha Priya Bezboah and Shrawasti Kundilya Kundilya in the title clash 6-2, 6-2.

Aahan started her singles campaign as a wild card and with a bye in the first round. She then won three matches in a row the reach the final. In the dobles event, Aahan and Akansha won three matches to become champions.

Student of St Xaviers High School, Kedargouri, Bhubaneswar, Aahan gave credit of the Asian U-16 double crown to her family, coach Ajay Nishank, Government of Odisha and Odisha Tennis Association.
