  FIH Women Pro League: Netherland edge out India

After registering a stunning 2-1 win over World No 1 Netherlands in the first of their double-leg FIH Women Pro League match at Kalinga Hockey Stadium in Bhubaneswar yesterday, host India went down fighting in the second leg 1-3 via shoot out at the same venue today.

The exciting match went to the shoot out stage as play in the regulation 60 minutes ended in 1-1 draw. India took a lightening lead with Rajwinder Kaur converting a penalty corner in the first minutes, 34 seconds to be precise.

Despite the loss in the second-leg match against Netherlands, retained their place the top of the table with 22 points from eight matches. Netherlands contended themselves at the second spot with 19 points from eight matches.

RESULTS:
9 April 2022:
India (Rajwinder Kaur 0-PC) lost to Netherlands (Jansen Yibbi 54-PC) 1-3 in Shoot out (Regulation time: 1-1). Shoot out scorers: Barentsen Marente, Fortuin Kyra and Jansen Yibbi (all Netherlands); Navneet Kaur (India). Player of the Match: Marente Barentsen.
