Fine allround performance by Ashim Barad helped Kendrapara beat Kalahandi by nine wickets in their preliminary league match of the Inter-District U-16 Boys Cricket Tournament at Hi-Tech Ground in Bhubaneswar today. Barad bagged five wickets for 31 runs and scored 25 runs.
Rourkela routed Koraput by nine wickets and Sambalpur decimated Mayurbhanj by 126 runs in two other matches of the day. Rain played spoilsport as three out of the six matches of the day were abandoned without a ball bowled.
Krish Singh was the top scorer of the day, hitting a 130-ball 91 for Sambalpur. His teammates Abhinab Nanda and Amarnath Bhoi also scored a half-century each. Roshan Choudhury bowled well for Mayurbhanj, bagging four wickets for 37 runs.
