Riding on a half-century by Hemanta Nayak and hauls of four-wicket each by Kousik Das and Gobinda Tandia, Rourkela outclashed Mayurbhanj by 108 runs in their preliminary league match of the Kalahandi Cup Inter-District Cricket Tournament (Senior & U-19 Men) at SCB Medical College Ground in Cuttack today.

Put into bat, Rourkela mustered a competitive total of 170, thanks to a 103-ball 72 by Hemanta Nayak. Aditya Basa was most successful bowler for Mayurbhanj, bagging four wickets for 31 runs.

In reply, Mayurbhanj were bundled out for 62. Kousik Das and Gobinda Tandia destroyed the Mayurbhanj innings, capturing four wickets each, conceding eight and 11 runs respectively. Stumper Abhigyan Mohanty was the only successful batsman for Mayurbhanj, hitting a defiant 28.

BRIEF SCORE (Match 88): Rourkela 170/10 in 47.2 overs (Hemanta Nayak 72, Sujal Kumar Singh 32*; Aditya K Basa 4/31, Rishav Sharma 2/32, Abhishek Parida 2/35, Debasish Mohanta 2/35) beat Mayurbhanj 62/10 in 30.3 overs (Abhigyan Mohanty 28; Kousik K Das 4/8, Gobinda Tandia 4/11) by 108 runs.
