  Central Railway lift Aeronautics Open Football Trophy

Central Raillway, Mumbai won the 20th Aeronautics Open Football Tournament (AOFT), defeating Army Services Corpse (ASC), Bangalore 2-1 in the final at HAL Stadium, Sunabeda today. The railway side led 2-0 at the half time, scoring through Arsad Shek and Alwin Dhian Prakash. After the change of ends, Raghu Kumar reduced the margin for the Banglore team.

Koraput Collector Rajesh Pravakar Patil, HAL General Managers AShok Kumar Asheri and Basanta Kumar Pradhan gave away the trophy and cash prizes at the closing function. The winners received Rs 1 lakh, while the runners-up took home Rs 75,000. Altogether 12 teams participated in the tournament, which was aunugurated by Police DIG Sanjiv Panda earlier on April 25.

 

Teams included host Hal Sports Club (Sunabeda), East Coast Railway (Visakhapatnam), Rabani Club (Nagpur), Army Services Corpse (Banglore), Eastern Railway (Kolkota), Orissa State Armed Police, Orissa Police (Cuttack), Jamshedpur Football Academy, Shan-e-Bengal (Raipur), Central Railway (Mumbai), Balasore Alloys Limited (Balasore) and East Coast Railway (Bhubaneswar).
