ATHLETE Ranjita Mahanta and football coach Subodh Kumar Jena were felicitated with the Ashok Patnaik Memorial Sports Award for the year 2009 in a function here at Saheed Sporting ground on Tuesday. Girl sprinter Mahanta and Government coach Jena received the awards as the best young sportsperson and best coach respectively. The award for best sports organisation went to Jajpur Kabaddi Association (Khanditara). Former India woman football captain Sradhanjali Samantaray handed over the awards in a gathering of eminent sportspersons, coaches, organisers and sports lovers. Sports journalists Umakanta Mishra (ETV) and Devi Prasanna Mohanty (Samaj) were honoured on the occasion.
