DESCRIPTION:
*     The FISU World University Games is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU).
*     The FISU World University Games, which was earlier known as Universiade are staged every two years.
*     The first Universiade was held in Turin, Italy in 1959.
*     This will be the 31st edition of the World University Games.
*     The upcoming World University Games will feature 18 sports, 269 medal events
*     Competitions will take place in 49 venues.
*     As many as 18 athletes belonging to the State of Odisha or Odisha-based universities have qualified to represent Indian contingent in Chengdu Games.
*     The 18 athletes include 10 in athletics, two in badminton, three in swimming, one in tennis and two in volleyball.

Athletics (10):
Lalu Prasad Bhoi, 100 men (KIIT University), Pragyan Prasanti Sahu, 100m hurdles women (KIIT University), Amlan Borghain, 200m men (KIIT University), Susmita Tigga, 3000m steeplechase women (KIIT University), Antima Pal, 5000m women (KIIT University), Priyanka Goswami, 20km walk women (KIIT University), Vikrant Malik, shot put men (KIIT University), Ajay Kumar, hammer throw men (KIIT University), Swadhin Kumar Majhi, high jump men (Sambalpur University), Manisha Merel, long jump women (Sambalpur University).
Badminton (2): Rutaparna Panda, Swetaparna Panda (both KIIT University).
Swimming (3): Shubhrant Patra (Jain University, Bengaluru), Pratyasa Ray (Utkal University), Shristi Upadhaya (Jadavpur University, Kolkata).
Tennis (1): Kabir Hans (Jain University, Bengaluru)
Volleyball (2): Mamali Nag, Shibani Priyadarshini (both KIIT University).
