Ranji Trophy: Samal, Parida rescue Odisha in drawn tie
05 Nov 2026

Valuable half-centuries by Swastik Samal and Anil Parida helped host Odisha draw their truncated four-day Ranji Trophy Elite Group-C match against Jharkhand at KIIT Cricket Stadium in Bhubaneswar today. Teams earned one point each as the first innings of both sides could not be completed due to rain.

Put into bat, Jharkhand rode on a century each by Aditya Singh and Robin Minz to declare their first innings at 433 for eight. In reply, Odisha were 280 for seven when the match ended as a draw. Odisha were 59 for three before Samal and Parida rescued them with knocks of 80 and 57.

This was the fourth match for Odisha and they slumped to the bottom of the group table with only two points in their account. Earlier, Odisha lost to Gujarat by 10 wickets, Kerala by an innings and 36 runs, and secured their first point with a draw against Services.
