Swasti Singh, the most decorated cyclist of Odisha, won her first medal today when she settled with the bronze in women elite 4 km individual pursuit. But Odisha is yet to secure any gold medal so far. The State has not been able to win a team medal yet.

Odisha won seven medals, including three gold, three silver and one bronze in the previous edition of the National Track Cycling Championship, which took place last year in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand.

Swasti lifted the Best Women Cyclist Trophy, bagging five medals, including three gold and two silver. Odisha women team, featuring Swasti Singh, Barsarani Barik, Khoirom Rejiya Devi, Madhusmita Badek and Manisha Sahoo claimed one gold and one silver. Swasti secured two gold and one silver in individual events. Sasmita Panda and Barsarani won one silver and one bronze respectively in individual competitions.

This year, the strength of the Odisha women team has come down noticeably with the absence of Manipur cyclist Rejiya Devi. According to Odisha Cycling Association president Minati Mohapatra, Rejiya has joined the Border Security Force (BSF).
