Leading Odisha swimmer Mannata Mishra became the second medal winner of the state in the 79th Senior National Aquatic Championships, bagging the bronze in the womens 200m breaststroke event at Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad, Gujarat today.
Bhubaneswar swimmer Mannata, who hones her skill at Odisha IIS-JSW Swimming High Performance Centre, finished third with a time of 2:40.64. Saanvi Deshwal (Maharashtra) and Thanya Shadakshari (Karnataka) took the gold and silver medal, clocking 2:37.81 and 2:38.97 respectively.
This was the fourth medal for Odisha in the ongoing championship with backstroke ace Pratyasha Ray capturing two gold and one bronze for state earlier. Mannata came close to a bronze medal yesterday in womens 100m breaststroke before finishing fourth with a time of 1:14.97.
Odisha will be looking for another medal on the last day of the championship when Shristi Upadhaya competes in the womens 50m butterfly tomorrow. In the previous edition of the Senior National Championships, held in Bhubaneswar, she won the only gold medal for Odisha in 100m butterfly, beating Karnartaka Olympian Dhinidhi Desinghu.
