Odisha Olympic Association (OOA) has decided to enhance the annual grants to its affiliated units from this year. The proposal for enhancement of grants, which was earlier finalised by the Finance Committee and Council, was approved in the Annual General Meeting (AGM), held at the OOA office in Barabati Stadium, Cuttack today.
As per the revised structure, affiliated units receiving Rs 30,000 will now get Rs 50,000, while those getting Rs 15,000 will now be given Rs 30,000. “The decision will come into effect from 2026 to ensure smooth functioning of district and sports associations,” said OOA general secretary Avijit Paul.
“The AGM also resolved to form a dedicated committee to help take necessary decisions regarding the implementation of the National Sports Code and future elections of OOA and its affiliated units. The committee will work in consultation with the State Government and other stakeholders,” added Paul
The AGM was presided over by OOA vice-president Kamala Kanta Pandey, in the absence of president and BJP leader Samir Mohanty. Other office-bearers of OOA, including vice-presidents Binod Dash, Pratap Satpathy, Nalini Kumar Das, Dulal Chandra Pradhan; joint-secretaries Hari Narayan Pujari and J Kameswar Rao, treasurer Rabi Sankar Pratihari, along with representatives of affiliated units were present in the meeting.
