Tannu (Rajput) and Priyanshi Bansal won one gold and one bronze for Odisha in the senior women apparatus finals of the Junior & Senior Artistic Gymnastics National Championships, which concluded at the Gymnastics High Performance Centre, Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar today.
Tannu bagged the gold in uneven bars with a score of 11.100, while Priyanshi claimed the bronze in balancing beam, gathering 11.233 points. It may be noted that Tannu and Priyanshi hail from Uttar Pradesh and Delhi respectively, but represented Odisha as the trainees of Bhubaneswar-based Odisha AM/NS India Gymnastics High Performance Centre.
Host Odisha bagged a total three medals in this National championship, which was organised by Odisha Gymnastics Association (OGA) with the support of the Department of Sports & Youth Services (DSYS), Government of Odisha. Home-grown gymnast Tapan Mohanty captured the first medal for Odisha with a gold in senior mens all-around competition earlier on April 26.
The closing ceremony was graced by Odisha Sports Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, Puri Lok Sabha Member Sambit Patra, gymnastics Dipa Karmakar, her coach Bishweshwar Nandi, DSYS Director Yeddula Vijay and OGA secretary Ashok Sahoo.
