Balangir emerged champions in the OCA Inter-District Womens T20 Cricket Tournament, defeating Bhubaneswar by six wickets in the final at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack today. The champion team received a prize of Rs 3 lakh, while runners-up Bhubaneswar took home Rs 2 lakh.
Put into bat by Balangir skipper Madhuri Meheta, Bhubaneswar compiled a modest total of 106 for four. Stumper Pragyan Paramita Mohanty was the top scorer with a 46-ball 52, while GM Alakananda contributed an unbeaten 32.
In reply, Balangir overhauled the target in 17.5 overs, losing four wickets in the process. Former India batter Madhuri Meheta led the chase with a 45-ball 46, while Sarita Meher hit an unbeaten 24.
