  Vijay Hazare Trophy: Poddar, Munde script Odisha win

Superba performances by seasoned allrounder Govinda Poddar and opening batter Om T Munde powered Odisha to a six-wicket win over Andhra in Elite Group-D match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy Senior Men One-Day Tournament at Alur Cricket Stadium in Bengaluru today. This was the second straight win for Odisha who jumped to the second spot in the group table with eight points from three matches.

Put into bat, Andhra were bowled for 221 with Poddar and captain Biplab Samantray picking up three wickets each. Chasing a competitive target, Odisha were in a spot of bother, losing two wickets for 31 runs. But a 166-run partnership between Munde and Poddar put them on the threshold of a comfortable victory.

Munde was the top scorer with a 111-ball 91 (4x7. Poddar followed his three-wicket haul with a 105-ball 89 (4x9) to be awarded as the player of the match. Odisha will next meet Delhi at Alur Cricket Stadium in Bengaluru on December 31.
