Andhra annihilated Odisha by 213 runs in a lop-sided Elite Group-C match of the Womens U-15 One Day Trophy Cricket Tournament at VCA Kalamna in Nagpur (Maharashtra) today. This was the third successive defeat for Odisha, who slipped to the fifth spot in the group table with four points from four matches.
Change of captain made no difference to the plight of the Odisha team as Anwesha Swain took charge in place of Chirashree Rout. Electing to bat, Andhra sent the Odisha bowlers on a leather hunt while mustering a mammoth total of 333 for six in the stipulated 35 overs.
Top scorer Greeshma Saini slammed a 58-ball 100 with the help of nine fours and seven sixes, while Deeksha Katragadda and B Madhura Sanjana Priya hit a half-century each. Chhita Soren was the most successful Odisha bowler, taking three wickets for 68 runs.
In reply, Odisha were restricted to 120 for seven. As leading scorers, captain Anwesha made 30, while Priyanshi Maharana remained unbeaten with 29. Already out of the knock-out race, Odisha will play their fifth and last match only for academic interest against Jammu & Kashmir at VCA Stadium in Nagpur on January 10.
