Hockey India today announced an 18-member Indian hockey team, including three from Odisha, for the 14th FIH Mens Junior World Cup, which is set to be held in Chennai and Madurai (Tamil Nadu) from 28 November to 10 December 2025. The three Odisha players are: Anmol Ekka, Adrohit Ekka and Rosan Kujur. Rohit Kullu, another player from Odisha, has been named as one of two alternate players.
The Indian Junior team will be led by dragflicker Rohit with legendary former India goalkeeper PR Sreejesh as head coach. A total of 24 teams will compete in the upcoming Junior World Cup, which was first held 1979.
India have been grouped in Pool B along with Chile, Switzerland and Oman who have come in as replacement for Pakistan. India will play their opening match against Chile on November 28. They will take on Oman on November 29 and Switzerland on December 2. Quarterfinals will take place on December 5, followed by semifinals on December 7 and the final on December 10.
Germany have been the most successful team, winning the gold medal seven times. India and Argentina have emerged champions twice each, while Australia and Pakistan have claimed the gold medal once each. India have secured two gold (2001, 2016) and one silver (2017) so far.
