Odisha paralympian Pramod Bhagat continued his recent run of success as he won three gold medals at the Hulic Daihatsu Japan Para Badminton International, which took place at Kusanagi Sports Complex in Shizuoka City, Japan from 5 to 9 November 2025.

World champion Pramod Bhagat won the three gold medals in mens singles (SL3), mixed doubles (SL3–SU5) and mens doubles (SL3–SL4) events. In the singles final, Bhagat showcased outstanding skill and resilience to defeat Japan opponent Daisuke Fujihara 17-21, 21-19, 21-10.

Teaming up with fellow Indian Manisha Ramadass, 37-year-old Bhagat captured his mixed doubles title by overcoming Indian pair of Nitesh Kumar and Thulasimathi Murugesan in straight games, 21-19, 21-19.

A Padma Shri and Arjuna awardee, Bhagat clinched the golden treble when he emerged the mens doubles champion with Indian partner Sukant Kadam. They defeated the Indian duo of Jagdish Delli and Naveen Shivkumar in the summit clash 21-17, 18-21, 21-16. Among other Odisha competitors, Pujyam Mishre reached mens SL3 singles quarterfinals, before losing to statemate Bhagat 13-21, 16-21.

This was the second golden hat-trick for Bhagat on his return to international competitions after serving an 18-month suspension from 1 March 2024 to 1 September 2025. The suspension was imposed by Badminton World Federation (BWF) after Bhagat was found guilty of breaching anti-doping regulations with three whereabouts failures within 12 months.

But the Odisha ace has made a strong comeback, winning as many as 12 medals, including 10 gold, one silver and one bronze since 21 September 2025. He bagged his previous golden treble at the 1st Abia Para Badminton International in Nigeria one month back.

The Para Sports Association of Odisha (PSAO) extended its heartiest congratulations to Bhagat on his outstanding achievements and wished him success in all future international tournaments.
