Odisha mid-fielder Bekey Oram has been selected in the 23-member India U-23 mens National football team for two international friendlies against Indonesia U-23, scheduled to be played on October 10 and 13 in Jakarta during the FIFA international match window.

After a brief training camp in Bengaluru, the Indian team has travelled to Jakarta to play the two friendly matches at the Gelora Bung Karno Madya Stadium in Jakarta. The Indian squad is accompanied by head coach Naushad Moosa, assistant coach Noel Wilson, goalkeeping coach Sathiesh Kumar, and strength & conditioning coach Diwakar Manohar.

Led by head coach Naushad Moosa, the Blue Colts have regrouped less than a month after narrowly missing out on a historic AFC U23 Asian Cup qualification, as they finished fifth in the rankings for the best second-placed teams (only the top four qualified) despite wins over Bahrain and Brunei Darussalam.

India U23s have played four friendly matches earlier this season, travelling to Tajikistan in June to face the hosts and Kyrgyz Republic, followed by two games against Iraq in Malaysia in August.

An alumni of Government Sports Hostel, Balangir, Bekey was part of the Indian U-15 team that won the title at the 2017 SAFF Championship in Kathmandu, Nepal. He was also a regular member of the India U-16 team which reached quarterfinals at the 2018 Asian Championship Finals in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Bekey represented Odisha in Sub-junior and Junior National Football Championships. He represented Karnataka in the Senior Men National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy in 2022-23. He also played for Indian Super League (ISL) clubs, Bengaluru FC and NorthEast United FC. Bekey was inspired by his elder brother Rakesh Oram, who represented the Odisha senior men team, India U-19 team and Mumbai FC.
