  Aahan wins AITA title, picked for ITF Asia Championship

It was a double delight for rising Odisha tennis star Aahan, who won the girls U14 singles title at the AITA-OTA Super Series Tournament at the Kalinga Stadium Tennis Centre in Bhubaneswar today and earned a berth in the Indian team for the upcoming ITF Asia 14 & Under Development Championship 2024 – Finals, scheduled to be held in Kuching, Malaysia from April 8 to 18.

India No 2 in U-14 rankings, Bhubaneswar girl Aahan won the AITA Super Series title, outplaying Tanusshri Sathesh from Tamil Nadu in the final 6-0, 6-1. The title triumph was followed by the delightful news that she had been selected to represent the Indian team in the upcoming ITF Asia 14 & Under Development Championship 2024 Finals.

 

Meanwhile, host Odisha claimed another title in the AITA-OTA Super Series Tournament with Shazfa Sk emerging girls U-14 doubles champion with Reet Jhawar from Karnataka as her partner. In the final, they beat the Tamil Nadu duo of Suhani Bhasin and Tanusshri Sathesh 7-5, 3-6 (10-0).

Shazfa, who earlier represented West Bengal, also finished girls U-12 singles runner-up, losing to Krishika Gautam from Karnataka 6-3, 6-2 in the summit clash. In the boys U-12 singles event, Shlok Aland from Maharashtra emerged victorious with a 7-6(3), 6-4 win over Harsh Prafful Nagwani.

In the Boys Singles 14 category, Atharva Sriramoju from Telangana claimed the boys U-14 crown, defeating Aarav Chhallani from Maharashtra 6-3, 6-0. Boys U-14 doubles final was a closely contested match with Aarav Chhallan (Maharashtra) and Rhunmaan Mahesh (Karnataka) ultimately emerging victorious over Yash Kumar (Karnataka) and Atharva Sriramoju (Telangana) 6-3, 3-6 (12-10).

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Odisha Tennis Association (OTA) secretary Satyajit Mohanty and joint-secretary Sanjeeb Panda. AITA supervisor Prabin Kumar Nayak was present on the occasion.
