  AITA Tennis: CS double crown for Aahaan Mishra

Odisha players made a clean sweep of all three titles in the AITA-CDTA Championship Series U-14 Tennis Tournament, which was organised by Cuttack District Tennis Association (CDTA), under the auspices of Odisha Tennis Association (OTA) and All India Tennis Association (AITA) at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack from 15 to 19 April 2024.

Promising Odisha talent Aahaan Mishra clinched a double crown, winning both the boys singles and doubles titles, while Sk Shazfa emerged champion in girls singles event. Aahaan won the singles crown, defeating State-mate and top seed Sai Swastik Mohanty in the gruelling final, which was stopped in the third and final set as Mohanty conceded due to exhaustion.

Aahaan claimed the doubles title with Swayam Sahu as partner. In the all-Odisha final, Aahaan and Swayam prevailed over Sai Swastik Mohanty and Ayush Pattanaik in straight sets.

 

Shazfa captured the girls singles crown, getting the better of West Bengal opponent Ahana Das in the summit clash 6-0, 6-2. Shazfa belongs to West Bengal, but plays AITA tournaments as a registered player of Odisha. She trains at Farhan Ali Tennis Academy in Patia, Bhubaneswar.

Besides winning all three titles, Odisha players also finished runners-up in both boys singles and doubles events. OTA secretary Satyajit Mohanty handed over the trophies at the closing ceremony. Tournament director Rajanikanta Sahu and referee Jatin Batsya were present on the occasion.

Boys singles:
Aahaan Mishra (Odisha) beat Sai Swastik Mohanty (Odisha) 6-4, 0-6, 5-2 (Conceded).
Girls singles: Sk Shazfa (Odisha) beat Ahana Das (West Bengal) 6-0, 6-2.
Boys doubles: Aahaan Mishra-Swayam Sahu (Odisha) beat Sai Swastik Mohanty-Ayush Pattanaik (Odisha) 6-4, 6-3.
