  10 from Odisha get berths in Indian sub-jr hockey teams

A total of 10 players from Odisha have been selected in the Indian Sub-Junior Men and Women Hockey Teams for a tour of the Netherlands from 13 to 16 October 2023. The two teams, featuring 20 players each was announced by Hockey India today.

This will be the first international tour of Indian sub-junior men and & women hockey teams. Both Teams will kick off their maiden tour against Senior EDE Men and Women teams on October 13. Indian Sub-Junior Men Team will square off against the Netherlands Boys U-18 once and the Netherlands Boys U-16 twice.
 

Indian Sub-Junior Women Team will play against the Netherlands Girls U-18 once and the Netherlands Girls U-16 twice. Manmeet Singh Rai and Bhavya will lead the Indian Sub-Junior Men and Women teams respectively.

Both the Indian teams consist of five players from Odisha. They are: Rohit Kullu, Pradip Mandal, Suresh Sharma Adhikarimayum, Deepak Pradhan, Rohit Irengbam Singh (all sub-junior men); Hodam Pabitra Devi, Karuna Minz, Tanuja Toppo, Doli Bhoi and Nisha Dadel. Among the 10, four are natives of other states, but have represented Odisha in National championships.

Besides 10 players, former Odisha stars Lajarus Barla and Lilima Minz have been named as the assistant coach of the Indian sub-junior men and women team respectively.

INDIAN SUB-JUNIOR MEN TEAM: Goalkeeper: Rahul Bhardwaj. Defenders: Rohit Kullu, Pradip Mandal, Sohil Ali, Ujjwal Pal, Sukhmanpreet Singh, Aashu Maurya (Vice-Captain), Neeraj. Mid-fielders: Rahul Yadav, Rohit Tirkey, Suresh Sharma Adhikarimayum, Manmeet Singh Rai (Captain), Rahul Rajbhar, Ghuran Lohra. Forwards: Ritender Singh, Deepak Pradhan, Ajeet Yadav, Ketan Kushwaha, Rohit Irengbam Singh, Srijan Yadav.
Team Staff: Sardar Singh (Coach), Lajarus Barla (Assistant Coach), Anand Luis Menezes (Strength and Conditioning Coach), Prasad Jayaram Kuckian (Physiotherapist), Ashvani Kumar Yadav (Masseuse).

INDIAN SUB-JUNIOR WOMEN TEAM: Goalkeepers: Hodam Pabitra Devi, Tarra Sailaja. Defenders: Bhavya (Captain), Komal Pal, Parwati Topno, Ritika Ahirwar. Mid-fielders: Rajni Kerketta (Vice-Captain), Tamanna, Karuna Minz, Priyanka, Tanuja Toppo, Kajal Pundir, Kirti. Forwards: Krishna Sharma, Kajal, Purnima Yadav, Sweety Dungdung, Doli Bhoi, Nisha Dadel, Ravina.
Team Staff: Rani Rampal (Coach), Lilima Minz (Assistant Coach), Pratiek Hitendra Ninawe (Strength and Conditioning Coach), Priya Yadav (Physiotherapist), Akhila Mohan (Masseur).
