Odisha won two silver medals in kho-kho competition of the 37th National Games as both the men and women teams of the State finished runners-up, losing to Maharashtra in both the finals at Ponda Multi-Purpose Indoor Stadium in Goa today.

Odisha women put up a stiff fight in the final against Maharashtra before losing by a margin of six points (46-40). Earlier in the semifinals, Odisha women crushed Kerala 64-30. Odisha women qualified for the semifinals, winning all three of their league matches at the group stage. They beat Karnataka 48-20, Haryana 15-18 and Delhi 58-34.

In the men final, Maharashtra were too good for Odisha, winning the match 72-26. Odisha men reached the final, winning four matches in a row. They defeated Kerala 44-42, Telangana 50-18 and Karnataka 52-42 at the league stage and Andhra Pradesh 44-42 in the semifinals.

Both the men and women kho-kho teams of Odisha consisted of 12 players each. Kho-kho competition in the Goa National Games was held from 4 to 8 November 2023. Sanjeev Sharma was the coach of the Odisha teams.
