Odisha bagged five medals in the East India Classic & Equipped Powerlifting Championship, held in Nalanda, Bihar from 29 October to 1 November 2023. The five medals consisted of one gold, two silver and two bronze.

Nagma Ara Begum captured the lone gold medal in women above 84 kg weight category with a total lift of 377.5 kg, while her Odisha Statemate Anita Behera claimed the silver medal, lifting a total weight of 362.5 kg.

Srabani Jena secured the other silver medal in women 69 kg category with a total effort of 309.5 kg. Sraddhanjali Behera settled for the bronze medal, also in women 69 kg weight class, lifting a total of 280 kg.

Sanket Nayak won the other bronze medal in men 66 kg weight class with a total lift of 470 kg. Debasis Mohanty accompanied the Odisha squad as coach. Office-bearers of Odisha Powerlifting Association congratulated the medal winners.
