Odisha weightlifter Suresh Yadav won the bronze medal in men 96 kg category of the 37th National Games at the Campal Sports Village in Panaji, Goa today. He achieved the feat with a total lift of 321 kg, which include 140 kg in snatch and 181 kg in clean & jerk.

Yadav, who originally hails from Uttar Pradesh, has been representing Ganjam and Odisha in the State and National championships respectively for many years. He trains at Bira Hanuman Club in Berhampur. Recently Yadav has joined Army Sports Institute, Pune

Earlier, Yadav won one bronze medal at the 2020 Senior National Championship in Kolkata and one silver medal at the 2023 Inter-State Senior National Championship in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu.

The bronze by Yadav was the third weightlifting medal for Odisha at the ongoing National Games. The other two bronze medals were secured earlier by international women lifters Jhilli Dalabehera and Sneha Soren in 49 kg and 55 kg category respectively.
