  ONTH Grassroot League: Kutra teams clinch double crown

Kutra clinched a double crown, winning both the boys and girls titles in the 3rd Odisha Naval Tata Hockey (ONTH) Grassroot League, which concluded at the Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar today. In the finals, Kutra boys beat Balisankara, while Kutra girls defeated Gurundia.

Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das, Sports Department Director Siddhartha Das, Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey and Odisha Naval Tata Hockey High Performance Centre (ONTHHPC) Project Director Rajiv Seth attended the closing ceremony as guests.
 

A total of 16 teams participated in the five-day tournament, which was hosted by ONTHHPC, in association with Sports and Youth Services Department (DSYS), Government of Odisha. Earlier, the first phase of the tournament, featuring 46 teams, took place from June 4 to 8. Out of the 46 teams, the top 16 qualified for second and final phase.

With teams from 20 Hockey Training Centres (HTCs), five of which are Grassroot Training Centres, both girls and boys participated in zones that included Kutra HTC, Gurundia HTC, Bamra HTC, HPC GR Dhenkanal, Rajgangpur HTC, Kuarmunda HTC, Subdega HTC, and Balisankara HTC (Saunamara) for the girls and NuaGaon HTC, Kutra HTC, Balisankara HTC (Saunamara), Chatrapur HTC, Rajgangpur HTC, Gurundia HTC, Subdega HTC, and Balisankara HTC (Tileikani) for the boys.
