  IWL: Odisha teams eliminated in quarterfinals

Campaign of Odisha teams in the 6th Indian Women League (IWL) Football Tournament ended on a sorrowful note with both Odisha FC and Sports Odisha losing in in the quarterfinals via penalty shoot out in Ahmedabad, Gujarat today.

Goalkeeper Beatrice Ntiwaa Nketia saved all three penalty kicks of Odisha FC in the tie-breaker to help defending champions Gokulam Kerala FC win their quarterfinal match 3-0 after played in the regulation time ended in 1-1 draw at TransStadia. Gokulam goalie Nketia saved all three penalty kicks of Odisha FC taken by Anju Tamang, Bala Devi and Pyari Xaxa.

Sports Odisha went down to Eastern Sporting Union 2-4 in tie-breaker after play in the regulation time ended in 1-1 draw at Shahibaug Police Stadium, Ahmedabad.

Odisha FC made it to the last-eight stage by finishing third in Group-B with 16 points from seven matches. They won five games, lost one and drew one. State Government-owned Sports Odisha qualified for the quarterfinals finishing second in Group A with 13 points from seven games. They won four matches, lost two and drew one.

May 3 (At TransStadia): Odisha FC (Anju Tamang 17th, Ngangom Bala Devi 25th, Jasoda Munda 46th, S Lynda Kom 90+7) beat Eastern Sporting Union 4-0. PoM: Jasoda Munda.
May 5 (At Shahibaug Police Stadium): Odisha FC (Ngangom Bala Devi 6th, 21st, Jasoda Munda 12th, Karishma Oram 18th, 45+3, Karthika Angamuthu 39th, Faustina Akpo 56th, S Lynda Kom 60th, Malati Munda 65th, 90+1) beat Churchill Brothers FC 10-0. PoM: S Lynda Kom.

May 13 (At TransStadia): Odisha FC drew with Sethu Madurai FC 0-0. PoM: Jasoda Munda (Odisha FC).
May 16 (QF At TransStadia): Odisha FC (Ngangom Bala Devi 2nd) drew with Gokulam Kerala FC (Asem Roja Devi 45+4) 1-1. Penalty shootout: Odisha FC lost to Gokulam Kerala FC (Ashalata Devi, Sabitra Bhandari, Indumathi Kathiresan) 0-3. PoM: Beatrice Ntiwaa Nketia (Gokulam Kerala FC).
