  Canada PBI: Bhagat, Bisoyee bag 2 silver, 2 bronze

Odisha duo, Pramod Bhagat and Deep Ranjan Bisoyee bagged a total of four medals in the Canada Para Badminton International 2023, a Level-1 tournament of Badminton World Federation (BWF), which was held in Tottawa, Canada from June 14 to 18. Only top 12 world ranking players were eligible to participate in this tournament.

Paralympic and World champion Bhagat won one silver and two bronze, while Bisoyee secured one silver. Bhagat settled for silver medal in mens SL3 singles as lost to his England nemesis Daniel Bethell in the final 12-21, 13-21 in 58 minutes.

Bhagat won one of his two bronze medals in mens doubles SL3-SL4 category, which was conducted in league format. Bhagat and his partner Sukant Kadam won one match and lost two to finish third. Bisoyee and his partner Manoj Sarkar captured the silver medal in this category, winning two matches and losing one.

Bhagat claimed his other bronze medal by reaching semifinals in mixed doubles SL3-SU5 category with Manisha Ramadass as his partner. However, in the semifinals, Bhagat and Ramadass went down fighting to Indonesian pair of Fredy Setiawan and Khalimatus Sadiyah 18-21, 19-21.

India bagged a total of 20 medals in the five-day tournament. The 20 medals featured five gold, five silver and 10 bronze.
