Odisha trio of Valena Valentina, Madhupriya Bai and Bratati Biswaprava Pati won one bronze medal each in the 6th South Asian Karate Championsip, which was held at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka from 25 to 27 November 2022.

Valena, the most decorated karateka of the State, settled for the bronze medal in senior women individual kata after losing her semifinal bout against an opponent from Sri Lanka.
Madhupriya Bai, who competed in cadet girls kata cagegory, claimed the bronze medal by reaching semifinals, where she went down to an opponent from Bangladesh.

Bratati bagged the bronze medal also by entering the semifinals in women 50kg kumite event. In the semifinals, Bratati fought hard to end the contest in a tie. But in the tie-breaker, she went down after putting up a stiff fight.
