  Uganda Para Badminton Intl: Odisha trio wins 5 medals

Odisha shuttlers Gadela Dillaswar Rao, Amarendra Behera and Nurul Hossain Khan bagged a total of five medals in the Uganda Para Badminton International, which was held in Kampala, Uganda from 13 to 18 September 2022. The five medals featured one gold, two silver and two bronze.

Partnering with fellow Indian Naveen Sivakumar, Dillaswar won the gold medal in mens doubles SL3-SL4 event, defeating Indian pair of Amarendra Behera and Abhijeet Sakhuja in the final 21-18, 21-19.

 

Dillaswar Rao secured the silver medal in mens singles SL3 event after losing to Sharanappa (India) in the title clash 16-21, 18-21. Amarendra Behera finished sixth in this event.

Nurul Hossain Khan won one bronze medal each in mens wheelchair events. He claimed one bronze in mens Wheelchair-2 singles event after going down to Matsumoto Takumi (Japan) in the semifinals 12-21, 6-21.

Nurul claimed his second bronze medal in mens wheelchair-1/2 double events with Neeraj Kumar Sreenivasan as his partner. They lost to Indian opponents Munna Khalid-Shashank Kumar in the semifinals 6-21, 7-21.
