Pyari scores against USA during Sweden tour
25 Jun 2022

Indian Women National Football Team ended their exposure tour to Sweden on a lackluster note, losing to the USA 1-4 in their second and last match of the WU23 Three-Nation Tournament at Larods IP in Helsingborg today.

This was the second defeat for the Indian women who went down fighting to host Sweden by a solitary goal in the first match at Angelholms IP earlier on June 22.

Indian women, however, salvaged some pride with Pyari Xaxa scoring the only goal for them against the USA. Another positive for the Indian team was that they gave formidable Sweden a tough fight before losing the match in injury time.

The 23-member Indian team, featuring Odisha forward Pyari Xaxa, was led by Ashalata Devi. Suren Chettri (the head coach of the U20 Women team and Indian Arrows Women’s team) was the interim head coach.
