  Junior Women NFC: Odisha crash out before QFs

Odisha crashed out before quarterfinals of the Junior (U-17) Women National Football Championship, losing to Maharashtra 0-3 in their fourth and last league match at SAI New Field, Paltan Bazar, Guwahati today. Sumaiyya Shaikh scored all three goals for Maharashtra.

Odisha finished third in their group with seven points from four matches. They won two, lost one and drew one. Dadra & Nagar Haveli emerged Group-F toppers with 10 points and qualified for the quarterfinals, while Maharashtra finished second with nine points.

Kerala, West Bengal, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Bihar completed the quarterfinal line-up after finishing the league engagements at the top of respective groups.

In their first three league matches, Odisha beat Chandigarh 3-1, drew with Dadra & Nagar Haveli 1-1 and won against Tripura 2-0. In the four league matches, Odisha scored six goals and conceded five. Goalkeeper Mili Majhi led the 20-member Odisha team with Gayatri Mallick as the Head Coach.

20 June 2022 (League match at LNIPE Ground): Odisha (Ankita Singh 90+3) drew with Dadra & Nagar Haveli (Pooja 39) 1-1. PoM: Pooja.
24 June 2022 (League match at LNIPE Ground): Odisha (Ankita Singh 14, Manisha Behera 24) beat Tripura 2-0. PoM: Ankita Singh.
26 June 2022 (League Match at SAI New Filed, Paltan Bazar): Odisha lost to Maharashtra (Sumaiyya Shaikh 24, 49, 65) 0-3. PoM: Sumaiyya Shaikh.
