Indian men hockey team emerged champions in the FIH Hockey 5s Tournament, beating Poland 6-4 in the final in Lausanne, Switzerland today. Raheel Mohammed was the main architect of the Indian triumph, scoring 10 goals in five matches. He was awarded as Player of the Tournament as well as Top Goal Scorer.
Led by Gurinder Singh, the nine-member Indian team qualified for the final after securing top position in the round-robin league with 10 points from four games. They won three and drew one. A total of five countries participated in the two-day tournament. But no player from Odisha could find a place in the Indian team.

4 June (League match-2): India (Mohammed Raheel 1-FG, Gursahibjit Singh 18-FG) drew with Pakistan (Arshad Liaqat 7-FG, Abdul Rehman 20-FG) 2-2.
5 June (League match-3): India (Gursahibjit Singh 1-FG, 17-CG; Mohammed Raheel 8-FG, 14-FG, 18-FG; Sanjay 10-FG, 12-FG) beat Malaysia (Firadus Rosdi 4-CG, 13-FG; Nabil Noor 9-FG) 7-3.
5 June (League match-4): India (Sanjay 2-FG, Mohammed Raheel 4-FG, 9-FG; Gursahibjit Singh 7-FG, Mandeep Mor 10-FG, Rabichandra Moirangthem 15-FG) beat Poland (Gracjan Jarzynski 13-FG, Jacek Kurowski 16-CG) 6-2.
5 June (Final): India (Sanjay 8-FG, Gurinder Singh 9-FG, Boby Singh Dhami 11-FG, 19-FG; Mohammed Raheel 13-FG, 17-FG) beat Poland (Mateus Nowakowski 1-FG, Robert Pawlak 5-FG, Wojciech Rutkowski 5-FG, Jacek Kurowski 18-FG) 6-4.
