  Odisha all set to host Aquatic National for first time

Odisha State Swimming Association (OSSA) and the Department of Sports & Youth Services would jointly organise the 48th Junior National Aquatic Championship at Biju Patnaik Swimming Pool Complex, Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar from 16 to 20 July 2022. This will be the first ever National aquatic championship in Odisha.

A total of 853 athletes from 30 States and Union Territories would vie for medals in swimming and waterpolo. As many as 528 competitors (274 boys and 254 girls) would compete in swimming, while 325 (120 boys and 105 girls) would battle it out in waterpolo. The championship would also feature 75 technical officials and 50 support staff.

 

Host Odisha would field a 20-member squad, featuring 12 boys and eight girls in swimming. Six support staff have also been named for the Odisha squqd.

ODISHA SQUAD:

Group-I Boys (6):
Anmol Mohanty (Cuttack), Anshuman Merli, Piyush Thakur (both Sambalpur); Yajat Gupta, Ayush Aryaman Badu, Anshuman Vashist (all Bhubaneswar).
Group-I Girls (4): Mannata Mishra, Vadra Satpathy, Akankshya Nayak (all Bhubaneswar), Nilandri Naik (?).
Group-II Boys (6): Som Swarup Dash, Saatvik Pandey (both Bhubaneswar); Manojit Roy (Cuttack), Bhadu Hansdah, Sahil Majhi (both KIIT & KISS); Hitesh Maharana (Sambalpur).
Group-II Girls (4): Anshika Aradhana Sahoo, Nayantara Kartikeyan, (both Bhubaneswar); Aanchal Bag (Sambalpur), Anuva Jena (KIIT & KISS).
Team Staff: Rajeev Lochan Dash (Managar), Sunita Bohidar (Lady Manager), Sandeep Sejwal (Chief Coach), Sarath Belleva (Deputy Chief Coach), Chintan Naik (Assistant Coach).
