Bidanasi Club emerged undisputed champion in Gold Group with 16 points from six matches. They won five and drew one to be eligible for the top prize of Rs 75,000 and a trophy. Rising Star Club finished runners-up in this group with 14 points.
Kishore Club were crowned champions in the Silver Group, beating Town Club 2-1 in the play-off match. Kishore Club will take home the winners prize of Rs 50,000 and a trophy.
FAO Second Division League also concluded today with Eleven Gun Club and Uday Club becoming champion and runners-up respectively. The champion team will receive Rs 25,000 and the runners-up side Rs 15,000.
FAO First Division League will be followed by FAO Super Cup at CRRI Ground in Cuttack from September 11 to 18. Eight teams of the FAO First Division League have qualified to compete in the Super Cup, which would be conducted on knock-out basis.
The eight teams include: top four from Diamond Group (Sunrise, Radha Raman, Sports Hostel, Young Utkal), top three from Gold Group (Bidanasi, Rising Star, Jay Durga) and the top one from Silver Group (Kishore).
The First Division League, featuring 24 teams, was organised by Football Association of Odisha (FAO) with the support of the Department of Sports & Youth Services (DSYS), Government of Odisha.
Cuttack Collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani graced the opening ceremony as chief guest on July 3. FAO Secretary Asirbad Behera, Odisha Cricket Association President Pankaj Lochan Mohanty and other office-bearers of FAO were present on the occasion.
