  Aradhyaa, Krishna win AITA Championship Series titles

Odisha girls Krishna Raj and Aradhyaa Verma won one doubles title each in the AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournaments, which concluded at the different places in Haryana and West Bengal respectively today.

Krishna emerged doubles champion in U-18 girls events with Shivani Ghudaiya from Maharashtra as her partner at Hawk Tennis Academy in Rohtak, Haryana. They beat Haryana-Andhra Pradesh duo of Leepika and Haasini Randhi 9-4.

 

Krishna also reached U-18 singles final and U-16 singles semifinals in the same tournament. In the U-18 singles final, Krishna lost to Shivani Ghudaiya 4-6, 3-6 to settle as runner-up. In U-16 singles semifinal, Krishna went down to Avni Sahraya from Haryana 2-6, 6-4, 7-10.

Aradhyaa Verma won the doubles title in U-16 age group at DKS Sports Complex in Kolkata. In the final, Aradhyaa and her partner Akansha Ghosh from West Bengal beat West Bengal combination of Aleena Farid and Saumya Chatterjee 6-2, 5-7, 10-8.

Aradhyaa also competed in U-16 singles and reached semifinals where she lost to Sohini Chatterjee (West Bengal) 6-2, 4-6, 4-7 in tie-breaker.

Both Krishna and Aradhyaa belong to Bhubaneswar and train at Farhan Tennis Academy in Patia, under the guidance of coach Farhan Ali. Krishna is a student of Loyola School, while Aradhyaa studies at Kalinga International School.
