Host KIIT University team, featuring Kabir Hans, Justin Kashuiguang Panmei and Ashish Kumar Parida, won the bronze medal in the All-India Inter-University Inter-Zone Mens Tennis Tournament, defeating Sri Venkateswara University,Tirupati 3-1 at KIIT University in Bhubaneswar today.

Kabir, a first-year BBA student, was also selected in the India camp for World University Games 2022, scheduled to be held in Chengdu, China. Md Anamul Haque and Jayesh Mangela were associated with the KIIT team as coach and manager respectively.

Earlier, KIIT University beat Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut 3-1 and SRM University, Chennai 3-1 to reach semifinals, where they lost to Gujarat University on Feb 28.

The best 16 university teams (four from each zone) participated in the tournament, which commenced on February 25. Osmania University won the gold medal, beating Gujarat University 3-2 in the final.
