Bengaluru FC rally to edge past Odisha FC 2-1
21 Feb 2022

Bengaluru FC came from behind to defeat Odisha FC by a 2-1 scoreline in the 2021-22 Hero Indian Super League (ISL) at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim, Goa today. The result keeps the Blues in the hunt for a semi-finals spot as they rise to fifth position with 26 points, one behind fourth-placed Kerala Blasters FC.

On the other hand, this was the third winless outing for Odisha FC and the defeat at the hands of Bengaluru FC caused a huge blow to their semi-final ambitions. Odisha FC now occupy the seventh position with 22 points from 18 matches. They have won six, lost eight and drawn four so far.

Nandhakumar Sekar (8th) pounced on a loose ball to score early in the game for Odisha FC but Danish Farooq’s levelled the score with a header in the 31st minute. Cleiton Silva (49th) scored from the penalty spot in the second half, which eventually separated the two teams.

Odisha FC will next meet top-four contenders ATK Mohun Bagan at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on February 24 whereas Bengaluru FC also play the Mariners next at the PJN Stadium on February 27.
