Host Odisha lodged a hat-trick of wins in mens group of the 70th Senior National Volleyball Championship, defeating Madhya Pradesh by 3-1 sets in the league stage at the Biju Patnaik Indoor Stadium, KIIT Deemed to be University in Bhubaneswar today.

Odisha men fought back from one set down to prevail over Madhya Pradesh 23-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-16 in Group C. Led by Diptiraj Mishra, Odisha had won their first two league matches against Bihar and Jammu & Kashmir by 3-0 identical margin.

The home team is set to play their last league match against Andhra Pradesh tomorrow. Odisha need a win against Andhra Pradesh to be eligible for the knock-out stage. Meanwhile, Odisha women took rest today before their third and last league match against Haryana tomorrow.

Led by Vala Chetna, Odisha women earlier beat Pondicherry 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-15) and Uttaranchal 3-0 (25-12, 25-13, 25-14) in Group D.
