Women Hockey Pro League: India stun Netherlands
08 Apr 2022

India registered their first win against Netherlands in over a decade with clinical 2-1 win in the first of their double-leg FIH Women Hockey Pro League at Kalinga Hockey Stadium in Bhubaneswar today. Neha and Sonika scored the two goals for India, while Jansen Yibbi reduced the margin for World No 1 Netherlands.

This was the fourth win in seven matches for India, who now occupy the second position in the table with 15 points. Netherlands, however, continued to lead the table with 17 points from seven matches.

With eight players making their first appearances for the Dutch national team, the Dutch did not start the game as overwhelming favourites that they usually are. Mahima Choudhary and Aishwarya Rajesh Chavan made their debuts for the Senior India Woman team.

The hard-fought match turned out to be a double delight for India forward Navneet Kaur, who not only completed her 100 International Caps, but also bagged the award as the Player of the Match. Two players from Odisha _ Deep Grace Ekka and Mariana Kujur _ were part of the Indian team in this match.

RESULT:
8 April 2022:
