As manay as eight New State Records (NSR) were established and one was equalled on the opening day of the Odisha State Weightlifting Championship at Biju Patnaik Weightlifting Hall in Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar today. Kumbheswar Malik and Rajendra Muduli established two NSRs each, while one each was created by Manoj Madhi, Jyoshna Sabar, Mina Singh and Pramila Kirsani.

Around 160 weightlifters including cadets of Weightlifting High Performance Centre of Kalinga Stadium joined the two-day championship, which is being organised by Odisha Weightlifting Association (OWL) with the support of the Department of Sports and Youth Services (DSYS), Government of Odisha.

DSYS Joint-Secretary Shailendra Kumar Jena inaugurated the championship, in the presentce of OWL President Chitta Ranjan Swain, Secretary Narayan Sahu and DSYS Under-Secretary Rajendra Prasad Pani.

Successful weightlifters from this competition will earn eligibility for participation in the National Weightlifting Championship, scheduled to be hosted jointly by the Indian Weightlifting Federation, Odisha Weightlifting Association, KIIT University and Government of Odisha at KIIT University, Bhubaneswar in January 2022.

YOUTH BOYS:
49kg: 1. Siba Naik Boys, Ganjam (57+80=137), 2. Sibaram Das, Ganajm (60+70=130), 3. Subhankar Boys, Ganjam (47+61=108).
55kg: 1. Manoj Madhi, Khordha (85+100=185, NSR in Snatch), 2. Mukesh Wika, Khordha (79+100=179), 3. Rama Tudu, Khordha (78+100=178).
61kg: 1. Sadananda Bariha, Khordha (100+120=220, Equaled previous State Record in Snatch), 2. Deepak Pradhan, Ganjam (86+105=191), 3. Swayamjit Prasad, Dhenkanal (82+105=187).

JUINIOR BOYS:
55kg: 1. Kumbheswar Malik, Dhenkanal (95+112=207, NSR in both Snatch, Clean & Jerk), 2. Mukesh Wika, Khordha (79+100=179), 3. Rama Tudu, Khordha (78+100=178).
61kg: 1. Rajendra Muduli, Ganjam (110+128=238, NSR in Snatch), 2. Sadananda Bariha, Khordha (100+120=220), 3. Krushna Naik, Ganjam (95+112=207).

SENIOR MEN:
55kg: 1. Kumbheswar Malik, Dhenkanal (95+112=207, NSR in both Snatch, Clean & Jerk), 2. Rabindra Hansda, Mayurbhanj (70+85=155).
61kg: 1. Rajendra Muduli, Ganjam (110+128=238, NSR in Snatch), 2. Udaya Singh Majhi, Dhenkanal (91+110=201), 3. Mithun Joida, Khordha (85+110=195).

YOUTH GIRLS:
40kg: 1. Jyoshna Sabar, (47+57=104, NSR in both the Snatch, Clean & Jerk), 2. Mamita Mallick, Khordha (35+50=85), 3. Banita Naik, Ganjam (33+42=75).
45kg: 1. Mina Singh, Khordha (53+65=118, NSR in both the Snatch, Clean & Jerk), 2. Lalita Bhatra, Khordha (48+56=104), 3. Tulasi Sabara, Khordha (43+49=92).

JUNIOR GIRLS:
45kg: 1. Rinki Nayak, Ganjam (56+73=129).

SENIOR WOMEN:
45kg: 1. Rinki Nayak, Ganjam (56+73=129), 2. Hara Priya, Ganjam (35+45=80).
