  Sr Women NFC: Odisha bow out in semifinals

Odisha suffered heartbreak in the 26th Senior Women National Football Championship when they lost to defending champions Manipur in the second semifinal 0-3 on penalties after play in the regulation time ended in 1-1 draw at the EMS Corporation Stadium in Kozhikode on December 7.

Manipur went on to win the title for the 21st time, defeating Railways in the final 2-1 via tiebreaker which was applied after play in regulation and extratime ended goalless.

Led by Karishma Oram, Odisha reached semifinals, getting the better of Tamil Nadu 2-0. Earlier at the league stage, Odisha won all three of their Group-F matches to qualify for the quarterfinals.

In the three league matches, Odisha beat Andhra Pradesh 9-0, Gujarat 7-0 and Haryana 2-1. Satyabati Khadia and Subhadra Sahu were joint top-scorer for Odisha with five goals each.

November 30: Odisha (Subhadra Sahu 22nd, 23rd, 38th; Satyabati Khadia 25th, 28th, 46th; Suman Pragyanya Mohapatra 48th) beat Gujarat 7-0.
December 2: Odisha (Deepa Nayak 19th, Bannya Kabiraj 74th) beat Haryana () 2-1.
December 5 (QF): Odisha (Karishma Oram 27th, Satyabati Khadia 37th) beat Tamil Nadu 2-0.
December 7 (SF): Odisha (Papki Devi 11th-OG) lost to Manipur (Kiranbala Chanu 48th)
