  Odisha allrounder Paresh Patel hangs up his boots

Odisha cricket allounder Paresh Patel today announced his retirement from all formats of the game with immediate effect. A top-order left-hand batsman and a slow left-arm orthodox bowler, Patel played 20 First-Class, 36 List-A and 32 T-20 matches for Odisha in a 13-year-long career, which started in 2005.

An employee of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Patel scored a total of 776 runs in his 20 First-Class matches with 95 as his highest score. He performed much better in List-A format with a total of 1059 runs, including 126 as his highest. In T20 format, Patel scored a total of 495 runs with 51 as highest.

As a spin bowler, Patel bagged nine wickets in First-Class matches, 36 in List-A and 37 in T20 games. He made his first-class debut for Odisha in the 2005-06 Ranji Trophy on 23 November 2005 and played his last match for the State with a T20 game against Assam in January 2018.

A Commerce Graduate, Patel honed his skills at Rameswar Sporting Club in Bhubaneswar with Manoj Mohapatra as his coach. Polite and friendly as a sportsperson, Patel also represented India Red in Challenger Trophy Tournament, 2007-08.
