  Odisha hockey star Lilima Minz announces retirement

Odisha woman hockey international Lilima Minz announced her retirement today. This was disclosed by Hockey India, which congratulated the two-time Asian Games medallist for her outstanding contribution to Indian Hockey. She had made her debut at the 4-Nation Women Tournaments in Argentina (Quilmes and ParanĂ¡) in 2011.

Lilima has been part of many glorious moments with the Indian Women Team. The experienced midfielder, who scored 14 goals in 156 matches for India, was part of the bronze dedal victory at the Asian Games 2014, silver medal win at the 2018 Asian Games and the gold medal victory at the FIH Womens Series Finals Hiroshima 2019.

Lilima, featured in the historic Indian side, which took the field at the Rio Olympics in 2016. The Indian Women Hockey Team had qualified for the Olympics for the first time in 36 years. The midfielder was also a part of the Indian team, which booked a place in the Tokyo Olympics through the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers 2019 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

Born on 10th April 1994, Lilima belongs to Bihabandh village in Sundargarh district. She became an accomplished hockey player after honing her skills at the State Government-run Sports Hostel in Panposh, Rourkela.
