But the performance of Odisha men team proved to be poor as they lost four matches and won one. Odisha men lost to Uttar Pradesh 68-89, Uttarakhand 53-83, West Bengal 79-81, while they beat Bihar 83-37. Altogether six states participated in the East Zone Championship.

Uttarakhand and West Bengal finished second and third respectively in mens category, while the third place in women category was secured by West Bengal. Top three teams of the East Zone competition qualified for the National Championship, which is scheduled to be held in Chennai from 23 to 31 January 2022.

Odisha Athletics Association Secretary Asirbad Behera, Odisha Cricket Association President Pankaj Lochan Mohanty and Odisha Olympic Association Secretary Avijit Paul graced the closing ceremony as guests and handed over the trophies. Odisha Basketball Association President Gyana Ranjan Parida and Secretary Ashok Kumar Sahu were present on the occasion.

Organised by Odisha Basketball Association, under the aegis of Basketball Federation of India, the East Zone Championship was inaugurated by Odisha Sports Minister Tusharkanti Behera, in the presence of Odisha Cricket Association Secretary Sanjay Behera.
