  Odisha grapplers bag six National medals

A six-member Odisha squad bagged a total of six medals in the 14th GFI National Grappling Championship, which was held at Atma Malik Sports & Education Complex in Shirdi, Ahmednagar (Maharashtra) from 24 to 26 December 2021.

According to Odisha Grappling Association Secretary Hari Prasad Pattanayak, the six medals consisted of two gold, three silver and one bronze. Both the gold medals were secured by Prashant Kumar Behera in junior 66kg Gi and No-Gi cetegories. Siddharth Shankar Mohanty won one silver medal in junior 58kg Gi event.

Santosh Singh claimed one silver in senior 71kg No-Gi category, while another silver was pocketed by Krishnashish Mohanty in senior 84kg No-Gi section. The lone bronze medal was won by Tanesh Punit Lenka in youth 63kg No-Gi event.

The three-day National Championship was organised by Grappling Association of Maharashtra, under the aegis of Grappling Federation of India.
