Odisha boy Purna Chandra Majhi has been selected to compete in junior recurve event of the 1st National Ranking Archery Tournament, scheduled to be held at Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad from November 16. Majhi is an inmate of Koraput-based SAI- HAL Archery Hostel and takes coaching from Tapan Murmu.

Majhi won recurve silver medal in junior boys category of the 22nd State Archery Championship, held at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack earlier this year in Februacy. He represented Odisha in the 37th Sub-junior National Archery Championship at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar in March 2017.

National Ranking Archery Tournament is conducted four times in a year by Archery Association of India. The tournament features competition in senior, junior and sub-junior recurve and compound events. Top 16 archers of the country become eligible to participate in the National Ranking Tournament.
