Soubhagya Behera was today crowned as the new snooker king of Odisha when he won his maiden title in the 27th State Senior Snooker Championship, defeating defending champion Nishant Biswal 6-5 in the nail-biting final at Cuttack Club in Cuttack.
Despite playing his first final in the State championship, Soubhagya showed nerves of steel to enter his name in the history of the sport in Odisha. Both Soubhagya and Nishant had a good start and the match progressed neck to neck with each winning the alternate frame.
The best-of-11-frame contest went to the decider after both the finalists won five frames each. But in the final frame Soubhagya maintained a good lead and sealed the match in his fever.
