  KDTA Odisha Open: Kabir clinches 5th double crown

Maintaining his supremacy in the Major Sandeep Mohapatra Memorial KDTA Odisha Open Tennis Tournament, Kabir Hans won both the mens open singles and doubles titles for the 5th time in a row at Bhubaneswar Club Tennis Complex in Bhubaneswar today.

In the singles final, Kabir defeated Pratyush Mohanty 6-2, 6-0 and in doubles title clash, Kabir and Pratyush beat Satirtha Patnaik and Debasis Sahoo 2-6, 6-3, 11-9. Kabir pocketed the trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 15,000 in singles and in doubles Kabir and Pratyush received a cash prize of Rs 8,000 along with trophy.

Organised by Khurda District Tennis Association, the 2021 edition of the tournament featured only three events due to rain. Rutuparna Choudhury won the womens singles title, getting the better of Simran Neha Ekka in the final 7-6 (8-6), 6-2. Rutuparna became richer by Rs 10,000.

 

Bhubaneswar Club president and former Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy handed over the trophies and cash prizes at the presentation ceremony. KDTA president Madhusudan Padhi, secretary Asit Pradhan, industrialist Jagadananda Mohapatra, tournament director Anup Nayak and tournament referee Jatin Batsya were present on the occasion.
